For the great festival of the whole people

On the occasion of the annual celebration of the Vietnamese traditional day of Fatherland Front's (November 18), the villages, the hamlets and the residential groups throughout the province organize the National Day of Great Solidarity in a bustling, exciting and friendly atmosphere. Regardless of ethnicity, religion, social class, the people of all ethnic groups unite and celebrate the festival. The children who are far away from home also return to their homeland.

In each period, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province accumulate the experience in leadership, direction and organization with the motto: Taking the residential area as the focus, the people as the subject. The head of the Provincial Party Committee for Mass Mobilization, the Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front, Mr. Bui Tien Luc says: In 2003 - the first year to organize the festival, the Provincial Fatherland Front held a conference praising 84 typical residential areas. They have instructed each district and town to choose from 10 to 15 residential areas in different regions to organize the Day of Great Solidarity as an example, drawing experiences for other residential areas and 13% of the residential areas have successfully organized the fesstival. Thereby, the number of the residential areas organizing the Day of Great Solidrity has increased year by year, reaching 100% in 2008. Organizing the Day of Great Solidarity has become a routine, and it is indispensable in the anticipation of the whole people.

Under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Fatherland Front closely cooperates with the appropriate authorities and socio-political organizations. They have actively innovated and created the organization of Day of Great Solidarity so that it is suitable to each locality and period. For instance, when Covid-19 epidemic broke out, there was reasonable adjustments. Before the festival, they launch the movement of environmental sanitation, decorate the residential areas and hang the national flags.

Since 2011 the Provincial Fatherland Front has advised the establishment of a delegation led by the members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to attend the Day of Great Solidarity at the residential areas organized by the districts and the city. The commune-level Fatherland Front is guided to choose the residential area as a model, and invite the local leaders to attend. In particular, Hoa Binh was honored to welcome many leaders of the Party, State, ministries and central branches to attend the festival. Many people are excited when they can shake hands and chat with the senior leaders of the Party, State and province that they have previously only heard and seen on the mass media.

Tightening the solidarity, promoting the cultural values

The Day of Great Solidarity includes a brief and solemn ceremony to review the traditions of Vietnamese Fatherland Front; evaluating the patriotic emulation movements, focusing on the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized cities”; praising the families getting the title of the cultural family, the typpical collectives and individuals. The festival is joyful with cultural and sports activities of the local ethnic groups including performing Muong gongs, singing folk songs, bamboo dancing, trumpet dancing, swinging, playing arrays, throwing cotton balls… Many residential areas organize the "meal of solidarity meals” so that the local people have the opportunities to meet and share experencies.

On the occasion of the festival, many meaningful activities take place: supporting the poor, supporting the construction of the houses of Great Solidarity... At the residential areas, more than 16,000 sets of gifts were given out, starting new construction and repair of 1,227 houses of great solidarity...

The festival also contributes to preserving and promoting good cultural values. The Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee of Kim Boi Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Xieng says: Since 2012, the district has ẽxtracted the budget to buy the ethnic musical instruments and Muong gongs to donate to the residential areas that organize the Day of Grea Solidarity as an example. So far, 79 residential areas have been donated (8 sets of musical instruments, 71 sets of gongs). Many Muong gong clubs have been established in the residential areas. On the occasion of each festival, the sound of gongs resounds throughout the region. In 2011, the district was honored to welcome the General Secretary, Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong to attend the festival in Cau hamlet, Bac Son commune (now it is Hung Son commune) and he was very impressed with the gong performance.

Arousing the People's Autonomy

After many years of organizing the festival, the Head of the Front Committee of Dong Moi Village, Dung Phong Commune (Cao Phong), Mr. Bui Ngoc Dong, finds that: One of the key contents of the festival is to look back on a year of the residential area and discuss the consensus on the direction for the next year. Through the festival, the people better understand the duties of the locality, see the responsibility of themselves and their families in building the community.

In particular, the self-governing model is the creation of the Fatherland Front in arousing and promoting the people's autonomy in building the residential area. The whole province has built and maintained many effective models in various fields, such as: "Self-governing road”, "The self-managed family-line and family”, "The safe joint group for fire preventing and fighting”. …

Under the gathering of the Fatherland Front, the highlight is that through the festival, the people can promote their self-control, participate in the models, campaigns, and movements of patriotic emulation. The people have donated land, contributed money, materials and funds to build roads and cultural houses and support the poor. From 2017 to 2022, the whole province has mobilized over 95 billion VND to support the poor, contributing to ensuring the social security.

Mr. Bui Duc Hinh, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council assesses: After 20 years of organization, the National Day of Great Solidarity has had a positive impact on many aspects of the province; affirming that it is a great festival of the whole people, connecting the community, connecting the officials and the people. However, the quality of festival organization is not uniform, in some places the ceremony and formality are the key; In other places, the people go to work far away, only the elderly and children stay at home, the movement is not active… In the coming time, it is necessary to raise the awareness about the festival. It is neccessary to be innovative and creative in the organizations so that it is suitable to each locality; strengthening the role of party committees and authorities in organizing the festival to ensure practicality and efficiency.

"If the residential area is strong, the commune is strong, the commune is strong, the district and the province is strong” – the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Phi Long, has emphasized that when he attended the festival at the residential area. The role of the people is very important in makpomh the residential areas be strong. The Fatherland Front needs to continue arousing and promoting the unity of the entire people, for the sake of the people's well-being and happiness.
