Do Van Chien (third from right), Secretary of the Party cell of Bu Cham hamlet in Hoa Binh city's Minh commune, is a role model in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings.

The movement of studying and following the late leader’s teachings has improved in quality. There have been many role models in terms of the Party and political system building, and defence - security safeguarding.

Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party cell of Bu Cham hamlet in Thinh Minh commune, is among them. He has brought into play his role as the leader of a grassroots-level Party committee to disseminate and encourage locals to comply with the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies and laws, thus winning over trust from local officials and residents. He has helped with the development of livelihoods to provide jobs and raise income for people.

His vermicelli production workshop, named Chien Tho, supplies about 100 - 120 tonnes of the food for the market each year. The Chien Tho-branded vermicelli has been recognised as a three-star product under the One Commune, One Product (OCOP) programme. In addition, he has developed many livelihood models such as fruit, "ca gai leo” (Solanum trilobatumLinn), and red turmeric farming which have created jobs for 15 locals with a monthly per capita income of 6.5 million VND (276 USD). He has also assisted many families to make a living and helped strengthen solidarity in the community.

Chien has been granted with certificates of merit by the chairperson of the Hoa Binh provincial People’s Committee for four times. He has also received the honour from the Vietnam Farmers’ Union Central Committee and, particularly, the Prime Minister.

Meanwhile, the Party organisation of Phuong Lam ward, located at the centre of Hoa Binh city, has promoted the implementation of Directive No 05-CT/TW and the municipal Party Committee’s Resolution No 03-NQ/TH.U, dated April 20, 2021, on cadres and Party members’ responsibility for setting good examples, firstly among leaders of Party committees, administrations, agencies, and units in terms of urban and land management. Phuong Lam ward has been recognised as an exemplar in the enforcement of the city’s Resolution No 03-NQ/TH.U.

In the recent past, the Hoa Binh municipal Party Committee has boosted disseminating and carrying out Conclusion 01-KL/TW, thus obtaining encouraging results in different socio-economic aspects and the Party and political system building. It has also stepped up the implementation of the Party’s documents on setting goods examples, tightened discipline at state agencies, and increased dialogue between officials and the public.

Over two years of implementing Conclusion 01-KL/TW, 31 collectives and 66 individuals of Hoa Binh city with outstanding performance in studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, moral example, and style have been commended.

The city has been pushing ahead with enforcing the Politburo’s conclusion in order to secure high consensus among local cadres, Party members, and people to achieve the common goal of establishing itself as a modern city of commerce and services that is imbued with its own cultural identity and develops sustainably./.
