(HBO) – Hoa Binh currently has had 1,276 prestigious people from ethnic minority groups. Recognising the role of prestigious people in developing socio-economic development, ensuring security and building the great national solidarity bloc, the Party Committee and administration at all levels of Hoa Binh have focused on effectively implementing policies to support them and promote their role in the community.
Prestigious senior citizens showing outstanding performance in the movement of all people protecting the national security are honoured.
Recently, the provincial Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs has sent three delegations of prestigious people to Son La and Dien Bien provinces to exchange experience, during which, they have learnt many good models and creative methods in popularising and encouraging people to engage in movements to promote economic development, preserve and promote the cultural identities of ethnic groups and build the great national solidarity groups among ethnic minority communities.
Do Duy Sam, head of the Office for Communications and Local Affairs under the provincial Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs said that prestigious citizens play a great role in ethnic minority communities, especially during the settling ethnic minority-related issues. Thanks to trust from the community, they have supported the Party and administration in managing the localities.
The committee has worked with relevant sectors and localities to maintain regular contacts with senior citizens and prestigious figures from ethnic minority groups to inform them about the socio-economic situation of the locality and listen to their feedback, ideas and aspirations and give timely response.
Training courses for the prestigious people have provided the prestigious people with knowledge of legal regulations related to family, religion, land and a number of projects and programmes for ethnic minority groups.
Nguyen Van Tu, a prestigious person from Hop Thinh commune of Hoa Binh city said that he is clearly aware of his role in connecting the local Party and administration and the local community. He has worked to encourage people to abide by regulations of the locality and focus on promoting economic development and escaping from poverty, he said.
Particularly, prestigious people in community have become the key force in the movement of all people fostering solidarity in building cultural life in residential areas by implementing specific activities and setting good examples for their families and community.
Thanks to their reputation, prestigious people who are leaders of villages have helped the local administration to deal with disputes in families, clans and residential areas, contributing to maintaining political stability, social order and safety in the locality./.

In 2023, the relic site where President Ho Chi Minh visited the Chi Hoa Production Group in Lam Son commune, Luong Son district of Hoa Binh province, was officially recognised as a provincial-level revolutionary historical site.
