Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, and Chairwoman of its Organisation Commission, and leaders of ministries, sectors, and Hoa Binh offered incense in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the relic site.
Speaking at the event, Secretary of Luong Son district’s Party Committee Nguyen Duc Dung said that after the victory of the Dien Bien Phu campaign and the signing of the Geneva Agreement, President Ho Chi Minh directed to bring children of officials, soldiers, and compatriots of the South to gather in the North to continue their study and work to train cadres for the Party's long-term revolutionary cause.
In 1956, following the Party and State's policy, 45 cadres in the South moving to the North, and a number of political prisoners from Chi Hoa prison returned by the French came to Luong Son district. They then established Group 1 and the Chi Hoa Production Group tasked with reclaiming wasteland and developing the economy in Luong Son district. After that, Group 1 merged with the Chi Hoa Production Group to form Southern Production Group, whose name was then changed as Cuu Long Production Group, the predecessor of Cuu Long State Farm.
On October 19, 1958, during his trip to Hoa Binh province, President Ho Chi Minh visited the Southern Army Division stationed in Luong Son district and the Chi Hoa Production Group.
On October 9, 2009, the then Chairman of the provincial People's Committee signed Decision No. 1959 to classify the place where the late leader visited the Chi Hoa Production Group, in Doc Phan hamlet, Lam Son commune, Luong Son district, as a provincial-level historical site.
Also at the ceremony, Luong Son district was honoured to receive a certificate recognising A2 Facility of Nhan Dan Newspaper as a provincial historical relic site. Accordingly, when the resistance war against the US entered a fierce phase (1965-1972), with the consent of the Party Central Committee, the Editorial Board of Nhan Dan Newspaper directed the construction of an editorial office and a backup printing factory (A2 Facility) in Rong Vong hamlet, Lam Son commune, Luong Son district.
Central and local leaders awarded President Ho Chi Minh's Badges to 65 outstanding children and students of Luong Son district. Truong Thi Mai presented scholarships and gifts worth 100 million VND (4,080 USD) to children living in difficult circumstances in the district. Le Quoc Minh donated 20 computer sets to schools in Luong Son district./.
