A delegation from the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (VAE) Central Committee on December 14 worked with the Hoa Binh Party Committee’s standing board on the operations of the association at all levels in the province and popularise Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW issued on June 23 by the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on the operations of the VAE.
The meeting drew Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of
the VAE and Vice Chairman of the National Committee on the Elderly; Nguyen Van
Hoi, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs; Nguyen Phi Long,
alternate member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hoa Binh
Party Committee; Nguyen Thi Cam Phuong, Vice Chairwoman of the provincial
People’s Council; and Nguyen Van Toan, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s
Committee; as well as leaders of some agencies and sectors of Hoa Binh.

Over the years, senior citizen affairs and the VAE in the province have
received great attention from leaders of Hoa Binh. Local senior citizens have
shown strong performance in implementing the Party and State’s policies and
law, while joining hands in economic development and promoting the national
cultural values.
The VAE at all levels have coordinated with other agencies to care for needy
members, while cooperating with the provincial Labour, Invalids and Social
Affairs Department to implement support policies for 15,475 senior citizens in
the locality.
Addressing the meeting, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association
of the Elderly, hailed the performance by provincial Party Committees and
administration at all levels in the elderly affairs and the implementation of
Conclusion No. 58-KL/TW.
He said he hopes Hoa Binh will continue to effectively realise the conclusion,
while focusing on building a strategy on senior citizens for the new period.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Phi Long, alternate member of the Party Central Committee and
Secretary of the Hoa Binh Party Committee, said that in the coming time, the
province will continue to popularlise and fully implement the Party and State’s
orientations, policies and laws regarding the elderly, while improving the
living conditions for the elderly, providing them with medical and legal
support, diversifying methods of caring for them, and strengthening the
mobilisation of resources for the province’s VAE.
The Hoa Binh leader proposed the strengthening of personnel training for the
VAE to enhance its operational efficiency, the completion of organisation and
operation models of the association at all levels, as well as policies for the
elderly.
On the occasion, the VAE Central Committee awarded the "For the cause of
protecting, caring and promoting the role of Vietnamese senior citizens”
insignia to nine individuals, and presented 50 million VND (2,053 USD) to needy
VAE members in Hoa Binh.
Throughout his revolutionary life, Uncle Ho visited Hoa Binh province four times. He also sent dozens of letters, telegrams, greeting cards, and heartfelt messages to local officials, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups, urging them to remain united, support one another, strive for progress, and actively engage in both production and resistance efforts to build a prosperous homeland.
To unlock the full potential of its forest resources, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on July 30, 2020 issued a Resolution on the sustainable development of production forests through 2025, with a vision toward 2030.
