Over the past time, members of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and young people in Hoa Binh province have actively organised practical and meaningful activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2024). The events offered opportunities for youth union members and young people to learn, arouse pride of a heroic time of their predecessors, and promote the sense of responsibility in the cause of national construction and defence.

Youth union members of the provincial high school ethnic boarding school learn about weapons in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

The education of history and traditional cultural values, especially for young generations, is crucial. In an attempt to improve the attractiveness and effectiveness of history education, the province has introduced a local educational programme at all levels, providing interesting and meaningful insights and learning experiences for teachers and students such as the "Ring the golden bell” to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, a thematic seminar with the participation of Nguyen Quoc An, a veteran who fought in the historical campaign.

Nguyen Duy Tu, Secretary of the provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) Committee, said the union’s responsibility and goal are to arouse patriotism and national pride among young people through practical and meaningful programmes, thereby helping young people understand the resistance wars to protect the Fatherland.

On this occasion, the provincial HCYU and Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ Organisation also awarded winners of a children’s drawing competition with theme "I am a Dien Bien little soldier" in 2024. The participating works hold a special meaning, showing a deep understanding while praising the great stature and the historical value of the Dien Bien Phu Victory as well as changes of the province nowadays.

In addition, there are several meaningful programmes such as "I love my Fatherland" – a journey to Dien Bien Phu with many activities to honour veterans and former youth volunteers who participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

The programmes have helped union members, adolescents and children to have a better understanding about the country’s history while motivating and encouraging spirit and responsibility of young generations on the path of cultivation, training, striving and following their predecessors’ footsteps to contribute to the development of the homeland and the country.
