In recent years, the Party Committee of the provincial Military Command has focused on directing the implementation of the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW and resolutions and of the Party Committee of Military Region III on promoting virtues of Uncle Ho's soldiers and combating individualism in the new situation, along with a campaign on "upholding tradition, devoting talent, deserving to be Uncle Ho's soldiers” and building a strong and comprehensive unit.

The provincial armed forces, agencies and businesses in Mai Chau
district present bicycles to poor students with excellent academic performances.
The province's armed forces
have built and maintained many effective methods and models to tighten the bond
between the military and the people. They include "cultural and national
defence village" model in especially disadvantaged areas in association
with the movement "The army joins hands to build new-style rural
areas", "Together we go to school" and other movements to help policy
beneficiary families and those with difficult circumstances.
According to Colonel Trieu
Kim Thang, Deputy Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command, a lot
of practical models have been effectively built and maintained over the
three-year implementation of Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW.
For instance, in the "Together
we go to school” model, units in the armed forces have held many meaningful
activities such as donating bicycles, tables and chairs, school supplies,
school uniforms presenting scholarships and supporting poor students. The
provincial armed forces have coordinated with agencies and organisations to
mobilise donations to buy 815 bicycles, valued at nearly 1 billion VND (39,400
USD), for poor students. Thus, many students have better learning conditions.
"The bicycle and school
supplies given to me by soldiers have helped me and many of my friends have
greater will to pursue learning so that we can study well for a better life,”
said Duong Hoang Thi, a tenth grader from Cao Phong Senior High School.
Through the models, the
provincial armed forces have awarded 104 scholarships, worth over 200 million
VND and supported 56 students in difficult circumstances from elementary to
high school. Many of them have enrolled in colleges and universities. A total
of 17 charity houses have been built for policy beneficiary families, along
with three others for soldiers from disadvantaged backgrounds with 80 million
VND in finance assistance per house.
In addition, the provincial
armed forces deployed the cultural and national defence and security model in
extremely difficult communes in association with the movement "The army
joins hands to build new-style rural areas". Up to 38 cultural and
national defence villages have been built in the locality.
Studying and following Uncle
Ho's teachings has become a regular task for the armed forces.
Over the years, many new
houses have been built and a lot of families in difficult circumstances have
received assistance, reflecting the noble virtues of Uncle Ho's soldiers and
contributing to local socio-economic development which is associated with
ensuring national defence and security in the locality.
