The model of cultivating biomass corn in Khoi hamlet, Phu Cuong commune, Tan Lac district provides stable income.
The communal Party organisation comprises 16 cells with 386 Party members. For the 2020-2025 term, its Resolution sets out 24 major targets and 4 key tasks. One of the goals is that all cells will fulfill their tasks every year, while 90% or more of administration units, Vietnam Fatherland Front chapters, departments and mass organisations are recognised to perform tasks excellently. The commune aims to maintain an economic growth rate of above 13%, achieve an annual average grain output of over 1,500 tonnes, and attain over 45% growth in industry, trade and service. The state budget revenue is targeted to increase by 13% annually while the average poverty rate will decrease by 3% per year.
Do Van Bang, Secretary of the communal Party Committee, said in order to achieve the goals, the communal Party organisation is building solutions and focusing on leadership to restructure the economy and crops, renovate mixed gardens, develop hill chicken products in line with the local strengths and potentials, enhance trade promotion and expand consumption markets.
Attention is also paid to social welfare, environment protection, social safety and order while the building of the Party, authorities, Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organisations is strengthened.
The entire commune grows 490 ha of rice, over 880 ha of corn, 165 ha of peanut, 190 ha of sweet potatoes, vegetables and other crops, all meeting and surpassing annual plans. The commune is promoting a shift in crop structure towards enhancing production value, and is directing residents toward concentrated and closed farming. The commune owns over 2,800 buffaloes and cows, 2,900 pigs, 65,000 poultry and 450 goats. Small and medium-sized economic models are encouraged to develop with high efficiency, creating numerous jobs and increasing incomes for workers.
Currently, Phu Cuong commune focuses on turning locally grown sweet potatoes, widely planted in Khieng and Vo hamlets. into a One Commune, One Product (OCOP) product.
To attract investment, the commune prioritises developing commerce and services while capitalising on local strengths and potentials. Companies and production workshops in the area, specialising in concrete bricks, textiles, mechanics, building materials, agriculture processing, and forestry products, are experiencing growth, contributing to a rise in the commune's budget revenue.
Investment continues to flow into infrastructure development, with a focus on completing the transportation network to serve the needs of residents. Since 2023, the commune has invested heavily in production-serving roads, mobilising public contributions and completing significant excavation and leveling projects. These efforts aim to facilitate transportation and improve the overall rural landscape.
