Upon learning of the passing of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong on July 19, Hoa Binh city residents have been in depth of emotions.


 Former Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Quach The Tan, Chairman of the local retirees’ club, is studying Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s book on Party building and rectification.


Recreational activities have been suspended, while national flag has been flown at half-mast in tribute to the late Party leader.

Former member of the provincial Standing Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Quach The Tan, who is currently Chairman of the provincial retirees’ club spent most of his time seeing documentaries about the late leader. He said he has been impressed by the speeches that Party General Secretary Trong delivered at the Party, Government and National Assembly’s meetings.

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the members of the retirees’ club heard the bad news, he said, highlighting the Party chief Trong was a staunch communist who devoted his whole life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people.

The late leader is a shining example of the revolutionary ethics, political and moral virtue, and lifestyle, he added.

Le Thi Minh Hue, a local in Quynh Lam ward and an officer at the province’s information portal, felt a sense of great loss at the demise of the late Party chief. Recalling her memory of the first operation with the working delegation of General Secretary Trong, Hue said she was a bit nervous. However, she was able to complete her mission after seeing the late leader talking with the local residents with his warm smile and humility.

As for Secretary of the Party organisation of Ky Son ward Dinh Vinh Ngoc, he has been impressed by the late leader’s writings on Party building. 

He said the image of General Secretary Trong was bold with the Party building and rectification, and prevention of corruption and negative phenomena, highlighting he showed his example-setting responsibility in the daily life and dialogue with the people.

With Bui Hong Dong, an officer of the fatherland front of the residential area 2, Phuong Lam ward, he has flown the national flag at half-mast in his house, and called for locals to do the same thing in tribute to the late leader.

He said the residents have admired the Party chief Trong’s revolutionary career and life, and expressed their deep sadness over the demise of the late leader.

Throughout his 80 years of life, Party General Secretary Trong held various important positions, and made significant contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and people. His directions were valuable lessons and guideline for the province’s party organisations and administrations at all levels to bolster the great national solidarity, enhance resilience, and promote the local socio-economic development.
