The Hoa Binh provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on October 9 held a ceremony to launch the 450-day drive to eliminate substandard housing for the poor.
The
event saw the participation of Nguyen Phi Long, Secretary of the provincial
Party Committee and Head of the provincial Steering Committee for the Programme
to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor; Bui Duc Hinh,
Chairman of the provincial People's Council; and Bui Van Khanh, Chairman of the
provincial People's Committee; among others.

As of September 23, Hoa Binh had 20,306 poor families with 6,362 living in
temporary, dilapidated houses, of them 3,194 in urgent need for housing.
Since Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh launched the national drive to eliminate
temporary and dilapidated houses from now to 2025, the province has received
43.6 billion VND (1.75 million USD) from the VFF Central Committee and nine
organisations and enterprises in and outside the province.
As many as 50 units in and outside Hoa Binh have contributed over 37.38 billion
VND to the "Fund for the poor”so far this year. The
province has earmarked over 11 billion VND from the fund to build 221 new
houses and implement social welfare activities.
In his
remarks, Khanh emphasised that the event demonstrates the attention of local
authorities and the provincial VFF Committee to housing issue for the poor,
adding it also calls for efforts of the entire political system, the business
community, and people to achieve the goal of eliminating temporary and
dilapidated houses from now to 2025 in Hoa Binh province.
Bui Van Luyen, Chairman of the provincial VFF Committee highlighted the
tradition of solidarity of the Vietnamese people. With the desire that poor families will have sturdy houses to improve their
living conditions, develop production and economy, and escape poverty
sustainably, the agency calls on businesses, agencies, organisations, and
individuals to contribute to the "Fund for the poor” and join the housing
support programme, he said.
Long
appreciated the support to the poor over the past time, which contributes to
ensuring the social welfare in the locality. He affirmed the province will try its best to
help 3,194 disadvantaged families in the province to have better houses by the
end of 2025.

He asked the provincial VFF Committe to allocate the funding to districts and
Hoa Binh city, and assigned all-level Party committees, authorities, the VFF
Committees, and organisations to complete the allocation before December 31,
2024.
At the launch, 39 enterprises and organisations donated over 4.2 billion VND to
the fund. The support will be used to build 240 households in the eight districts of Cao
Phong, Tan Lac, Mai Chau, Kim Boi, Yen Thuy, Lac Thuy, Luong Son, and Hoa Binh
city; and 140 others in Lac Son and Da Bac district, each with 50 million
VND.
Throughout his revolutionary life, Uncle Ho visited Hoa Binh province four times. He also sent dozens of letters, telegrams, greeting cards, and heartfelt messages to local officials, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups, urging them to remain united, support one another, strive for progress, and actively engage in both production and resistance efforts to build a prosperous homeland.
To unlock the full potential of its forest resources, the standing board of the provincial Party Committee on July 30, 2020 issued a Resolution on the sustainable development of production forests through 2025, with a vision toward 2030.
