Recently, the Red Cross of Tan Lac district has organized many practical, meaningful, and humane activities, targeting the vulnerable people, the poor, and the people in difficult circumstances, contributing to helping them in their life.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tra, the President of Tan Lac district’s Red Cross, says: "Since the beginning of the year, the Red Cross has organized many practical and effective grass-roots-oriented programs, supporting the vulnerable and the poor people in the locality. In addition, the movements and the models of "Tet of Compassion”, "Each organization and individual are associated with a humanitarian address”, "Humanitarian month”, building the "Red Cross” houses, "Cow Bank”, giving health insurance cards have received the attention of the agencies, the units, the businesses, and the philanthropists, bringing positive effects, thereby, it has been encouraging and helping the poor alleviate difficulties”.

Implementing the movement "Tet of Compassion”, the district’s Red Cross has coordinated with the agencies and the units to mobilize resources to award over 2,330 gifts to the poor households, the families under prefferential policies and the Agent Orange victims with a total of value of more than 1.3 billion VND. In the the campaign "Each organization and individual is associated with a humanitarian address”, since the beginning of the year, the Union and other sectors and branches have compiled records, regularly helped 15 addresses, and given gifts to the households with particularly difficult circumstances; mobilizing the benefactors to sponsor, provide financial support, and regularly take care of many humanitarian addresses. At the same time, the Union has coordinated with the District’s Medical Center to organize free medical examination and medicine for 633 people in Phu Vinh and Nhan My communes. 

Implementing the "Sharing Meal” model, since the beginning of the year the Union has organized 48 distributions of rice and porridge at the District’s Medical Center for the poor patients. Together with the benefactors, the Union has implemented many activities supplementing nutrition, improving the physical condition for the children in highland areas, distributing 116 boxes of milk to the children in the communes. They have deployed the mobilization of resources to build a humanitarian fund in the "Humanitarian Month” of 2023, the Union has mobilized 199 million VND from the organizations, the units, the businesses and individuals received, providing the additional resources to carry out humanitarian, charity, and social security activities in the area. In addition, the Union has opened a class to improve the skills in responding to and preventing the natural disasters for the full-time and part-time officials at the grassroots in communes, towns and schools; Maintaining two disaster response teams in Tu Ne and Nhan My communes. Thereby, it helps to raise the people's awareness in responding to the situations that may occur during the rainy and flood season.

Thanks to promoting propaganda, the voluntary blood donation movement launched by the district’s Red Cross Society took place enthusiastically and had widespread influence. The Union has organized propaganda and mobilized volunteers and the local people to participate in voluntary blood donation in 2023 with over 1,500 people registering, collecting 1,096 blood units (after conversion). In addition, the Union gave 11 breeding cows to the poor households through the "Cow Bank” program, worth 45 million VND; attaching signs and handing over 2 "Red Cross” houses to the households with housing difficulties in Nhan My commune, Suoi Hoa…

Ms. Bui Thi Lay from Day hamlet, Suoi Hoa commune, was selected to support the construction of the "Red Cross” house. Ms. Lay is in difficult circumstances, suffers from mental illness, lives alone in a dilapidated house. Receiving the attention from the district’s Red Cross, the departments, the branches, the locality and the benefactors who contributed and supported the construction, helping her have a stable house. Ms. Lay happily says: "Thanks to the Red Cross and the units that helped build my house makes me very happy. On rainy days, I no longer have to worry about leaks, when it's cold, I no longer have to worry about drafts, making my life less difficult." 

The humanitarian and charitable activities deployed to the grassroots by the Red Cross of Tan Lac district have shown the interest of the organizations, the individuals and the whole society. Thereby, it has been promoting the spirit of solidarity and mutual love in the community, helping the vulnerable overcome difficulties in life.
